WEEK 6 Post 2

                                                                          Week 6 Post 2

                                                                         Starting Editing

As we finished our clips this week we knew the next step in the process was to start on our editing as soon as possible. First we made any edits to the clips on our iphone before we uploaded them to anything therefore we wouldn't have to try to edit them on a software that is harder to use. We did things like cropping, editing the length of the clips, and appearance tweaks like brightness and such. Next the group downloaded all the clips from Kate's phone onto Hallie's Microsoft one drive therefore we could put them on a flash drive. We decided to put all the clips on Hallie's flash drive as she had the most storage on it out of the most of us. From our past projects we had learned about how helpful the next step is when further in the editing process. Naming all of our clips, most times when they are in adobe you can only see a cover photo of the clip and when deciding which ones to transfer over to adobe you need to know which clip is which. So we did that and then when they are on a flash drive we are able to then put them on adobe and also as we edit and progress our project we can constantly upload the new versions on to the flash drive. I have mentioned this before but we are using Adobe Premiere Pro to edit our project.

After we uploaded all the clips onto the flash drive and dragged them into the Adobe program, our next step was to order the clips into the right order. So we also had to take a second to figure out how we wanted the clips organized to get the aesthetic and timeline. Mostly we had to focus on specific time lines when it got around to the car crash to make sure everything lines up, most of the other things were just going to be in montage style. Once we got everything how we wanted we decided that we were going to download the music we needed. A few posts ago I covered the story of the music and we landed on using these 2 royalty free songs. One happy one and another sad feeling one to match the two tones of the video. To add music it is a little more complicated than the videos. In short you need to convert them using an mp3 converter. And then you need to open Adobe Audition which is for music and sound and drag it into there. then it will show up in the same spot as your video clips and you are free to insert them and clip them to wherever you want. We didn't get to adding in the music but we got it downloaded into Adobe. That marks where we ended for the week considering editing. The next post covers the voice overs that will be a big part of our project.
