 Critical Reflection Project #1

For my first Critical reflection project I formulated my answer into a Prezi Presentation. I did this project on the question of "How did your production skills develop throughout this project?". First again, I will attach my original answer to the question and then attach my video of my prezi presentation.

Answer: Before approaching this project we covered lots of things in preparation for it. At first, we covered lots of vocabulary, shots, angles, and camera work to better understand creating a film. Then we analyzed films and went deeper into the production of a film covering many parts of mise en scene. And by the time we started this project we knew a plethora of information on producing a movie and what goes into it. We also worked with our editing software creating an opening credits montage and a short film. So, with all this background knowledge I had a good foundation to start this project. Although once I got into the project my group and I didn’t realize how much we still had to learn even with half the school year preparing for this. First with planning I was educated on all the steps that go into planning a film. I learned the importance of how being properly planned before starting to film. I got more experience with storyboards, creating scripts, and figuring out how to create an aesthetic and story of a film without actually doing it. Now moving to filming skills, we had filmed before but didn’t realize all the small things that go into making scenes what they look like. Looking back on my blog posts about the challenges and refilming time, we ran into many things we had to learn. For example, lighting, the time of day matters, the setting matters, and angle all effects lighting. You also have to think how you want the lighting; in some clips we wanted it bright but in some we though it would add to the effect to have darker lighting. Another example audio, we had to take into account the setting and its background noises and we ended up using technology to better the sound. But, not only have my filming and planning skills enhanced but so were my editing skills. Even though we have used Adobe several times there were still so many functions I learned and also just the time editing made me become for comfortable with the program and edit faster.
